My name is Naren Basu. I am one of the oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgeons working here at the Priory Hospital in Birmingham.
Breast self-examination is a very important way to get to know what is normal in one's own breast. We tend to recommend doing it at a certain part of a monthly cycle if a lady is still having her periods. In the shower or in the bath with some soapy water, examining yourself perhaps once a month is a very good way to get to know your own breast tissue. If you have noticed any changes to the breast or have any breast cancer concerns, please see a healthcare professional or come and see our multidisciplinary breast team at the Priory Hospital in Birmingham.
